2027 solar eclipse path map

The yellow line below follows Eclipse Wayfinder's reduced NASA-derived centerline series. Blue markers show published totality locations; gray markers show published partial-eclipse reference cities.

Use this schematic to understand the event at a glance. For exact local circumstances, open a city guide or enter the observing coordinate in Eclipse Finder.

How to read the 2027 eclipse path map

The diagram plots longitude horizontally and latitude vertically. It is intentionally a geometry-first schematic rather than a road map. The centerline shows where central totality moves across the event, while city markers help you relate the path to published location guides.

Western path: Spain, Gibraltar and Morocco

The eclipse reaches the western Mediterranean around southern Spain and Gibraltar before crossing into Morocco. This is the most compact published comparison cluster. Málaga, Tarifa, Gibraltar and Tangier provide different mixes of totality depth and visitor infrastructure.

North Africa and longest totality

The path continues across Algeria, Tunisia and Libya before reaching Egypt. Near southern Egypt, central totality reaches its longest duration. Luxor is the flagship published location in that section, while Cairo demonstrates that a major city can still sit outside totality.

Arabian Peninsula

The path then crosses into the Arabian Peninsula. Jeddah and Mecca are published reference points inside totality. Any real travel plan must still check current official access and travel requirements.

Why the schematic does not draw an “exact” hard edge

At this stage, the visual emphasizes centerline and reference locations. The exact total/partial transition is better calculated at the observer coordinate because lunar-limb effects and small coordinate differences matter near the edge. Use Totality Finder for that boundary problem.

Download and reuse the chart

The path schematic can be exported as PNG for personal planning. For data analysis, the path page provides the centerline table and a downloadable duration chart.
